GOP Main Event: Two Flights Done, Three Incoming

The GOP flagship event is now underway. Across two starting flights, the Main Event drew a combined 68 entries with 10 survivors, each one locked in for Day 2 and guaranteed a share of the KRW 700,000,000 prize pool along with a shot at the Black-and-Gold Gauntlet.

Richard Flach

Day 1A's marathon format attracted 34 entries and closed with Richard Flach at the top with a stack worth 84 big blinds, based on the flight's ending blinds.

The Trophy Count

From the very first day, the GOP hardware has been on full display and Japan wasted no time making its claim. They've arrived in force and immediately dominated both the tables and the podium.

Kenji Hata

Of the 37 trophies awarded to date, 19 have gone to Japan — that's more than half — with Kenji Hata and Ryoma Yamamoto each picking up two titles. Both players have also advanced to Day 2 of the Main Event.

Another headliner was Ming Yue Wang who became the first player at the series to win two trophies in the same day.

Alfie Adam

GOP regular Alfie Adam continued to steal the show with two trophies claimed during the first two opening days. Adam now sits on 12 career GOP trophies, extending his lead as the brand’s all-time trophy leader.

Gauntlets Find Their Champions

Two of the brand’s famous wearable Gauntlets have already found owners.

Rudy Edenata

The first one was hoisted by Rudy Edenata at the Demigods Challenge along with a payout of KRW 54,320,000 (~USD 36,000).

Player of the Series Update

The Player of the Series race is heating up and the leaderboard is shifting by the day. Hanh Tran has held the top spot for the past two days but the competition behind him is tightening. Yuri Ishida has made her move, racking up five cashes to climb into second rank and push Kenji Hata down to third position.

Hata, meanwhile, took a break from the side event grind today to take his shot at the Main Event and successfully punched his ticket to Day 2. The points accrued will add to his POS tally but how many depends entirely on how deep he runs.
