Cronus Refined: Player Feedback Shapes the Next Step

After five completed Gods of Poker stops, the Cronus Structure is receiving its first player-driven evolution. Not by moving away from its philosophy, but by making the progression of play even better.

Since the launch of Cronus, GOP has listened closely to the players experiencing the structure where it matters most: at the tables. Across five completed stops, the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

Players have embraced its core philosophy: remove unnecessary levels, protect players’ time, and build a tournament structure where every level serves a purpose.

But even a structure that works can be improved.

One piece of feedback has surfaced consistently.

While players have generally supported GOP’s philosophy of closing late registration with a healthy 30 big blind starting stack, some felt the transition leading into it was too abrupt.

Under the existing structure, the starting stack can move from 60 big blinds to 30 big blinds in a single level as registration closes.

The destination was not the problem.

The drop was.

GOP listened.

A New 40 BB Transition

Beginning with the sixth edition of Gods of Poker, GOP Taipei II, the signature Cronus Structure will introduce an additional transition level to create a smoother progression from 60 big blinds toward 30 big blinds.

Instead of a sudden 60 BB-to-30 BB drop, players will now move through an intermediate step at approximately 40 big blinds.

The adjustment is simple, but important.

The starting blinds remain the same. Registration still closes at the same point. And the 30 BB late-registration philosophy remains firmly in place across all non-turbo events.

GOP is not extending late registration or adding time simply for the sake of it.

The change is about better progression.

Lloyd Fontillas, Gods of Poker Founder & General Manager

Cronus was never meant to be untouchable. It was built around a simple idea: respect players’ time without compromising the quality of the game.

Five stops have given us the chance to see the structure work in real tournament conditions and, more importantly, hear directly from the players using it. When that feedback shows us a way to improve the experience while staying true to what Cronus stands for, we should act on it

That is what this evolution is about. We are refining Cronus, not reinventing it. Every change should have a purpose

Cronus will keep evolving with the game and with our players. Time is Gold.

Evolving with Purpose

Cronus was created to challenge a long-standing assumption in tournament poker: that every conventional blind level needs to exist simply because it always has.

Instead, Cronus asks a different question:

Does this level actually improve the tournament?

That principle remains at the heart of the structure.

Efficiency does not mean removing as many levels as possible. It means being deliberate about which levels stay, which go, and how each one contributes to the overall tournament experience.

The new 40 BB transition reflects that thinking.

After five stops and thousands of hours of tournament play, Cronus is no longer just a concept. GOP now has real-world experience to build from, and the structure can become better because of it.

The philosophy behind the Cronus Structure remains unchanged.

The goal was never to create the shortest tournament structure possible. It was to create a more efficient one without sacrificing the quality of play.

Players’ time has value. So does good poker.

GOP Taipei II marks the next step for Cronus, keeping what works, improving what can be better, and staying true to the principles that shaped it from the beginning.

Less waste. Better progression. Same Cronus philosophy.
